March is here!! I don’t know about you, but January and February have been quite a year. I am ready for the change of the calendar and the change of the season that is *hopefully* approaching us. I love Spring and everything it brings. Rainstorms instead of blizzards. Flowers instead of ice. Sunshine and longer days. Even if it’s still chilly, it’s better than subzero windchills, right?

March is also jampacked with things to celebrate on your social media. You can download March’s Hashtag Holiday Calendar HERE for the full list. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • March is Women’s History Month, and on March 8th, we will celebrate International Women’s Day. This is an incredible opportunity to recognize the women in your organization who are doing great work. If you’re like me and a solopreneur, recognize the women that have impacted your career path, your life, or have inspired you to be a better version of yourself. Be creative as you come up with ideas for this celebration.
  • There are a lot of fun food celebrations, several of which I plan to celebrate: Peanut Butter Lover’s Month, Popcorn Lover’s Day, Meatball Day, and so many more. Finding a connection between your business, a client, or your love of a particular food gives you a chance to share more about yourself with your audience.
  • March 29th marks Mom and Pop Business Owners Day. I love celebrating this day – there are so many small, family-owned businesses in Iowa that I love supporting. I use this day as a chance to share some of my favorites to help my followers perhaps find a new business to support.

March also has a lot of great opportunities to network with fellow business owners here in Des Moines. Here are a few of my favorites that I’m hoping to make it to:

  • March marks the first anniversary for my friends over at Inner Circle Co. To celebrate, they have a lot of amazing events planned throughout the month. There’s a potluck, co-working day, chair dancing class, and a book club event. There’s literally something for everyone. Visit www.createyourinnercircle.com to find out more and to learn more about their mission.
  • Each March, the three Des Moines Chambers of Commerce (FuseDSM, Des Moines Downtown Chamber, and Des Moines Westside Chamber) all host an event to update their membership about the city of Des Moines. Pulse of the City (formerly State of the City) is an excellent chance to hear from the leadership of our fantastic city about what has happened in the last year and what is headed our way. Des Moines has so many exciting projects coming this will be an event you won’t want to miss.
  • In addition to Pulse of the City, FuseDSM has several other events for members (and non-members) to add networking and learning opportunities to your calendar. Whether it’s Trivia Night with the Des Moines Jaycees or their Feed Your Mind Lunch and Learn Series, there are fun events this month in addition to their regular monthly programs like Firestarters, MOXIE, and the Non-Profit Forum. Check out their events online: www.fusedsm.org/events/calendar

February brought me several incredible ideas, and March will be the start of creating and implementing them. So stay tuned to see what I have planned. I am extremely excited about what the future holds.

✌🏻, 💜, & 🌷🌹🌻…hopefully,

Annie
